Evolving from the game of Quilles à Neuf, the most widespread among the 160 variations of pin games known in France, the game of Quilles à Huit became very popular in the early 1900s in Espalion, Occitania. The game consists of knocking down eight pins, forming predetermined figures, from a distance of up to 20 meters, with the use of a wooden ball thrown with force thanks to the use of a wooden pin.
